2021 Academic Service-Learning Faculty Fellow Application

Selection Process:
Service-Learning Fellowships are open to all permanent, full-time USM faculty members at the rank of instructor and above. We seek faculty representing a variety of disciplines and areas of expertise, and with varying degrees of familiarity and experience with service-learning. Preference will be given to those faculty members who articulate a clear vision of how service-learning fits into their professional development as teacher-scholars.

Pedagogy Award:
A $2400 stipend is awarded to Seminar participants. Funds can be paid to the faculty member’s School for course release time granted during the seminar or when the new service-learning class is first taught. Participants may also choose to be paid directly, minus fringe benefits.

Goals
• Participants will attend a weekly (1 and ½ hour) seminar on service-learning
• Participants will modify an existing course to incorporate academic service-learning and submit a new service-learning syllabus to the CCE
